A member of a bipartisan climate change task force says recommendations in a newly released report are achievable and necessary. The report, released last week, includes 55 recommendations designed to adapt to climate change and limit its negative impacts, while also seeking to improve the economy and tap opportunities for renewable energy and conservation. Executive Director of the Wisconsin Conservation Voters Kerry Schumann told WFDL news the report’s recommendations for a reduction of carbon emissions by utilities is realistic. Another recommendation included the creation of an Office of Environmental Justice to design climate policies that reduce emissions and address impacts within communities of color and low-income areas, and . anti-racism training for legislators and staff to “address the systemic bias and racism that exists in government.”
