A controversial development project at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park will be front and center at two separate proceedings in February. An Ethics Board hearing for councilmember Ben Giles and court hearing on a lawsuit filed against the city are scheduled for February 5. The city of Fond du Lac and the business group Lakeside Forward have filed responses, asking a Winnebago County Circuit judge to dismiss the lawsuit and a temporary restraining order that would prevent the city from taking further action to develop Lighthouse Point or Oven Island while the lawsuit is pending. The business group wants to build a restaurant and amphitheater at the park. The Ethics Board will hear testimony to determine whether Giles violated three sections of the city’s ethics code.
