Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged playground equipment at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park. Shortly before 4:30pm Monday Fond du Lac firefighters were called to the park on Harbor View Drive for a report of playground equipment on fire. Upon arrival crews found a large combustible playground set on fire. The fire was extinguished but not before the equipment was destroyed. “This is quite disturbing”, Fire Chief Peter O’Leary said. “This is a place for kids to play and during the pandemic, families have struggled to find places to get outdoors with their children.” City Police and Fire Investigators were in the area searching for anyone who might have been in the area at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The City’s Parks Department were contacted and they responded to the scene.
