1-7-20 dodge county sheriff says da ruling shows kenosha police officer shooting justified

The Dodge County Sheriff says the Kenosha County District attorney’s decision not to charge a police officer in the shooting of Jacob Blake shows why it’s important not to rush to conclusions before the investigation is completed.   The DA said he decided not to issue charges because he couldn’t prove the officers weren’t acting in self-defense.  Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt has said from the beginning he did not believe the shooting incident was a racist act.  “For the District Attorney to come out and say there were no charges…that means it was a justified shooting,” Schmidt told WFDL news.  “We have somebody who had a weapon, we have somebody who is a criminal, who was wanted for sexual assault, who was failing to follow the lawful orders of law enforcement, and is armed.”
