Two Fond du lac officials, Allen Buechel and Joe Moore, are providing an update to the Professional Women’s Connection regarding the initiatives that will be undertaken by the
County and City in 2021.  Allen Buechel has served as Fond du Lac County Executive since 1993, after serving on
the Fond du Lac County Board for 17 years. Since taking office, Fond du Lac County has been a leader in the state, piloting innovative programs such as Family Care and
Welfare Reform, and has significantly modernized the county’s infrastructure including the airport, highways, fairgrounds, golf course, parks, trails, UW-Fond du Lac,
consolidated dispatch center, jail expansion, regional medical examiner program, as well as information technology.
Buechel is currently serving as Chair of the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Commission, as Chair of the Group Health Trust Board of Directors and Vice-Chair of the Wisconsin Counties Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Public Finance Authority, as well as other local boards.  He was elected to his seventh term as County Executive on April 4, 2017, and is the longest serving county executive in the state of Wisconsin.    Joseph Moore has served as the City Manager of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin for eight years. He is the chief executive of the city, leading an organization of over 350 people in service to its citizens.  Moore also served in the military, including duties as commander of military bases in  Europe and Asia and as a policy advisor at the Pentagon.  He holds a bachelor’s of science degree and a master’s of science degree in architecture from Virginia Tech and completed the executive business program at the University of Virginia. He has also graduated from the U.S. Army War College, the U.S. Army’s Airborne School and the Defense Language Institute’s French and German language programs as well as completing a yearlong Secretary of Defense fellowship.   He’s married to Molly and they have two daughters, both of whom are in college, one, a
graduate student at the University of Arizona and the other an undergrad at the University of Kansas.
