1-8-20 chairman of republican party of fdl county says u.s. capitol riot was ‘disaster’

The chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County says the storming of the U.S. Capitol by violent protesters was fueled by the president.  Rohn Bishop says it was a disaster.  “One of the reasons the crowd popped was the speech the president gave.  I listened to it live on Fox News, and he (Trump) was trying to incite a riot,” Bishop told WFDL news.  Bishop says what happened at the U.S. Capitol was unacceptable.  “Fourteen Washington D.C. cops are hurt and we’re the party of law and order and that’s unacceptable.  Four people are dead, that’s unacceptable.  The Capitol building was invaded by Trump supporters and it’s the first time it’s been invaded since the War of 1812 when the British burned the place, and that’s unacceptable.  Just about everything that happened was unacceptable.”   Bishop says he’s taken a lot of heat from members of his own party for speaking out about the president’s behavior since the election, but says because so many Republican leaders sat sheepishly by and let his lies fester, this is what happens.  “I”m pretty emotional and ticked off about it because as much as a partisan Republican as I am, I love our country, I love the process, that’s why I do this. It sucks that Trump lost, I campaigned hard for him all year long, but the behavior since the election has been downright embarrassing.”
