1-8-21 st. agnes hospital healthcare workers receive covid booster shots

The Vice President of Pharmacy Services for SSM Health Wisconsin Region says healthcare workers at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac are getting their booster COVID-19 vaccine shot this week.   The first doses were administered last month and Mo Kharbat says more doses continue to arrive.  “At St. Agnes and healthcare workers for SSM Health in the greater Fond du Lac area we gave between St. Agnes Hospital and Waupun Memorial, about 2,000 doses so far,”  Kharbat told WFDL news.  In response to reports that Wisconsin lags behind other Midwestern states in vaccine distribution, Kharbat says he believes the state is doing the best it can.  “The supplies are coming in.  I do believe the state is doing their best to make sure we get our allocation and now it’s up to us on health systems to expend our effort and make the vaccine available to more healthcare workers in the community.”   Kharbat says when the vaccine is made available to the general public a high percentage of the population will need to get it in order to get the virus under control.  “To get to herd immunity you need to vaccinate at least 80 to 90 percent.”
