Fond du Lac’s Agnesian HealthCare Foundation and Lakeside Forward are joining forces to help rebuild playground equipment destroyed by an arson fire at Lakeside Park. The two organizations are collectively donating $40,000 to help rebuild the playground. “The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation has always been a proud supporter of community-based initiatives that bring close-to-home opportunities for local residents and their families to live healthier lives and build strong foundations that encourage active lifestyles,” Shawn Fisher, Executive Director, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, said. “When we learned of this tragic loss, we were eager to step up and help the community regain this treasure for our families and their children. We have seen that during the COVID-19 pandemic that outdoor activities are playing a vital role in maintaining a healthy and safe lifestyle. We are glad that this new playground area will help to fulfill this and many other goals.” The new playground equipment will include all-ability pieces ; ensuring accessibility and sensory benefits, thus creating an inclusive play space, according to a press release. “Lakeside Park is a place for everyone.” Sadie Parafiniuk, President/CEO, Envision Greater Fond du Lac and member of Lakeside Forward, said. “Recreating this area of the park is one small gesture to ensure children of all ages and abilities will have a safe place to play.”
