Nobody was injured in a basement fire at a town of Ripon residence on New Years Day.  Firefighters were called to the Brian and Michelle Hiemstra residence on Cliff View Drive for a report of a dryer fire.  The fire was contained to the area around the dryer in the lower level.  Due to the damage from the fire, water, and smoke, the residents are being assisted by Red Cross.  Responding to the scene was […]

Fireworks are being blamed for a fire that destroyed an attached garage at a Fond du Lac County home New Year’s Eve.  Firefighters from seven area departments helped battle the blaze at the Brian and Theresa Thoma residence on Sterling Court in the town of Ashford.   Nobody was injured in the fire.   The garage and its contents, including vehicles, were a total loss.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities released the names of Wisconsin siblings killed when a suspected carjacker fleeing from police drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 in central Florida and collided head-on with their vehicle. Three people have been convicted and sentenced in the heroin overdose death of a Fond du Lac man.  Julie Harr, Anthony Buechel and Cara Zech were all convicted of reckless homicide in the July 2018 death of Steven Comptom.   Harr was sentenced to six years in prison and six years extended supervision.   Buechel was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years extended supervision and Zech was sentenced to nine years in prison and […]

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — A memorial on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus now marks the land as a gravesite for Native Americans buried there in 1863.
