The race for Fond du Lac city council could turn out to be a referendum on development at Lakeside Park. Ten people are running for three seats, with the top six in today’s primary election advancing to the April election. Dan Degner is the only incumbent running for re-election and has consistently voted in favor of a controversial Lakeside Park alternate master plan that includes a restaurant at the park. Degner and challenger Lawrence Foster received thumbs down reviews from both the Friends of Lakeside Park and Fond du Lac Park Watch groups for their stance on development at the park. Foster has said he believes the question should be put to a public referendum. Four attorneys are running for the Fond du Lac County Circuit judge seat being vacated by retiring judge Richard Nuss. The top two vote getters will advance to the April election.
