Now that he’s been acquitted in his second Senate impeachment trial, Donald Trump is preparing for the next phase of his post-presidency life. Trump is feeling emboldened by the trial’s outcome and is expected to reemerge from a self-imposed hibernation. Retired Ripon College political scientist Marty Farrell says he expects to be hearing more from Trump in the days, weeks and months ahead. Farrell says Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell delivered a ringing denunciation of Trump, calling the former president “practically and morally responsible” for the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Farrell says the question now is whether Trump will face any criminal or civil actions for his role in the Capitol insurrection.
