The year 2020 was monumental in many ways. The COVID-19 pandemic brought business closures, high unemployment, overall general fear and a proliferation of scams. Northeast Regional director for the Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin Susan Bach says her agency started seeing the increase soon after the pandemic started. Bach says the BBB Serving Wisconsin received more than 18,500 complaints last year, an 81-percent increase from the year before. Bach says there was an almost 20 percent increase on the BBB’s Scam Tracker portal.
