The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says the recent spike in coronavirus variants in Wisconsin is a concern. The state Department of Health Services reported last week, that 19 cases of the coronavirus variant first detected in the United Kingdom have been detected in Wisconsin. That’s up from six cases February 25. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it’s a concern and another reason why it’s still important to wear masks, social distance and frequently wash your hands. Mueller says it’s still unknown how effective the vaccines will be against the variants. Mueller says she suspects that there are many more cases of the variant in Wisconsin than the 19 that have been detected.
