One year ago Thursday the first two COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Fond du lac County and the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it’s a time to reflect and look back and see how far we have come. Mo Kharbat is the vice president of Pharmacy Services and Health Research with SSM Health Wisconsin Region. “It’s been quite a year dealing with the pandemic that spread quickly across the world,” Kharbat told WFDL news. “Here in Wisconsin we saw it early and we’ve been through a surge or two.” On a positive note, Kharbat says we now have a vaccine. Kharbat says he is confident vaccine doses will continue to ramp up. In the past year there have been 96 COVID-19 deaths and nearly 12,000 COVID-19 cases in Fond du Lac County.
