The city of Fond du Lac is not backing out of an agreement with a business group for a development project at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park. The deadline is Thursday and the city council did not take action at their meeting Wednesday night to terminate the contract. Fond du Lac city manager Joe Moore says if a future council were to back out of the contract, then they would have to deal with the potential consequences, including a potential lawsuit. Moore says in that case the city would have to estimate the potential risks including what the costs of that would be, and what the likelihood of litigation would be. The alternate master plan includes building a restaurant near the lighthouse and and amphitheater in the park. A business group is pledging $5.2 million in donations with the city spending an equal amount.
