A North Fond du Lac native’s crypto-art has sold for a record amount at a recent Christie’s auction. Thirty nine year old Mike Winkelmann, aka Beeple, sold his crypto-art titled ‘Everyday-the First 5,000 Days,’ for $69.3 million, the most expensive crypto-art on record. The digital artwork is a collage of 5,000 images created by the artist over a period of as many days in his life and represents a type of recently popularized digital art called Nonfungible Token or NFT, which is built on the blockchain framework. Winkelmann’s mom is the former Fond du Lac senior center director and his dad worked as an electrical engineer at Giddings and Lewis.
