The Fond du Lac County Board has given the okay for the city of Ripon dispatch center to consolidate with the Fond du Lac County communications center. The county board has approved a memorandum of understanding with the city of Ripon to transfer dispatch responsibilities to the county. In January the Ripon Common Council voted in favor of consolidation. Fond du Lac County director of communications and emergency management Bobbie Hicken says Ripon is the final agency in the county to join since the communications Center was consolidated in 2004. Hicken says the consolidation process will take place throughout the year. The move is expected to save the city of Ripon approximately $4 million over the next ten years.
