3-29-21 man involved in chase, armed standoff in fdl and dodge counties bound over for trial

A Merrill man involved in a high speed chase and armed standoff  in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties has been bound over for trial.  Louis Stone was bound over for trial on multiple charges including recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment and domestic abuse as a repeater, eluding an officer and attempted battery to a police officer.   The chase happened March 9 when a  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy  attempted to stop a vehicle speeding 90 miles an hour on Highway 151 southbound near Highway 23.   The 14 mile long chase ended when the sheriff’s squad forced the suspect vehicle off the road on Highway 175 near Highway 49.   According to a criminal complaint Stone then armed himself with a large butcher knife with a female passenger and a baby in the vehicle.  The standoff ended several hours  later when negotiators   convinced Stone  to leave the vehicle and he was arrested.
