The Fond du Lac County Sheriff says two Fond du Lac area men in their early 20s are missing and presumed drowned after falling out of a canoe on Lake Winnebago. The victims have been identified as Dakota Goldapske and Michael Gohde, both 21 years old, and from Fond du lac. The rescue search turned into a recovery effort Tuesday for the two men who were tossed into the water about a mile north of the Fond du Lac River outlet Monday night and were not wearing life jackets. Waldschmidt says a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter with night vision and infrared camera system was not able to detect any heat signatures on the lake. The search was suspended for a second day in a row late Tuesday afternoon and will resume Wednesday morning. Waldschmidt says the conditions on Lake Winnebago Monday were not appropriate for any vessel let alone a canoe.
