3-31-21 wrong way crashes

Wisconsin is headed the wrong way with wrong-way crashes.  According to a recent AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety analysis the number of deaths from wrong-way driving crashes on divided highways in Wisconsin from 2015 to 2018 was 230 percent higher than the previous five years.  State AA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says that’s the third highest increase in the nation.  Jarmusz says while the overall numbers are relatively low, it’s still an alarming number considering some of the underlying factors involved in these crashes, including alcohol impairment and older age.  Researchers also found that 87 percent of wrong-way drivers were alone.  So what do you do if you see a wrong-way driver?  Jarmusz says cautiously move to the right shoulder, avoid swerving or slamming on  the brakes.
