The U.S. House passed the Protecting the Right to Organize or PRO Act last month, and if it becomes law would represent the biggest change in labor law in decades. The measure would make vast, union friendly changes to the National Labor Relations Act. Wisconsin Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says it’s an extreme bill. “I don’t like it the idea you can have a unionized election with eleven days advance notice is a little ridiculous,” Grothman told WFDL news. The House originally passed the Act in 2019, but it did not make any progress in the Senate. Grothman says this time it’s fate may depend on whether the Senate eliminates the filibuster. Even if the Act doesn’t get through the Senate in its entirety, it may be possible for parts of the act to pass the senate and reach the president’s desk.
