State health officials say it’s only a matter of a few weeks before the U.K. variant becomes the dominant COVID-19 strain in Wisconsin. DHS officials say all five variants are circulating in Wisconsin. Dodge County Public Health Officer Abby Sauer say the variants have been detected in Dodge County. The Chief Medical Officer with the Wisconsin DHS Bureau of Communicable Diseases, Dr. Ryan Westergaard, says cases are increasing most rapidly among children. Sauer says like most of the state the number of confirmed positive cases in Dodge County has been increasing. Westergaard says the state is in a new phase of the pandemic that is clearly worse than it was before and it’s transmission among young people who are driving the change and the curve.
