The president of Fond du Lac’s St. Agnes Hospital says her first reaction to news of the pausing of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine was empathy for people who have received the vaccine who may be worried. Vaccinators have suspended use of the vaccine amid fears the shots may cause blood clots. St. Agnes Hospital president Katherine Vergos says it’s important for people to understand that this is a very small percentage of individuals compared to the overall number of doses that have been administered. “There’s been about 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson administered in the United States and there’s been six reported cases of this blood clot issue,” Vergos told WFDL news. “So it really was the FDA and CDC, out of an abundance of caution, pausing the administration of the vaccine.”
