4-16-21 waupun emergency management director says have a severe weather plan in place

The Waupun Emergency Management director says have a plan in place and know what you would do if there is a tornado.   B.J. DeMaa says don’t wait until severe weather strikes to come up with a plan.  It was only three years ago when a tornado outbreak caused widespread damage in western Fond du Lac County.  “August of that year there was a lot of activity.  Fond du Lac County, Dodge County, Sheboygan.  This area got hit pretty hard,”  DeMaa told WFDL news.  “…not only with tornadoes, but one item folks forget to think about when we talk severe weather is straight line winds.”  DeMaa says unfortunately Fond du Lac County residents have also been repeated victims of flash flooding in recent years.  This is Severe Weather Awareness Week.
