An Oshkosh man is in custody following a suspicious incident outside a Fond du Lac County residence and subsequent scuffle with law enforcement that landed a sheriff’s deputy in the hospital. The incident happened Monday when the Sheriff’s Office received calls of a suspicious person walking around a residence on Highway 26 in the town of Eldorado and looking in the windows of the home. Deputies located the suspect on Highway 26 a short distance south of the initial call, and believed he may be under the influence of drugs or experiencing a mental health episode. The suspect ran across the highway and during the attempt to detain him, the deputy suffered a significant knee injury. A Taser was used to gain control of the person and take him into custody. The deputy was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. Further investigation into the incident and injuries to the person revealed that he had jumped out of a moving vehicle on STH 26 in Winnebago County before Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputies had contact with him.
