5-5-21 fdl council settles on three new sites for lakeside park restaurant

The Fond du Lac city council has identified three new sites for a potential restaurant at Lakeside Park.   Meeting as a committee of the whole Tuesday the council officially took Lighthouse Point off the table and reached consensus on property at the end of North Main Street, on Oven Island and in what is now the boat launch parking lot area near the Yacht Club.   City council president Kay Miller says she’s pleased that the council was able to  reach consensus on the locations.  Councilmember Keith Heisler says he wants to hear what the public thinks of the new restaurant locations.  Friends of Lakeside Park spokesman John Papenheim says any restaurant development at Lakeside Park should be put to a public referendum.  The site at the end of North Main Street was rejected by a previous council years ago following public opposition, prompting that council to propose building a new pavilion instead.   The city’s management team will present the alternatives to the business group and report back to the council at their next meeting.
