St. Vincent de Paul and the Fond du Lac Solutions Center are kicking off the public phase of their fundraising campaign for a new Fond du Lac homeless shelter. The Katherine Drexel homeless shelter will be located in the parking lot of the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store on North Peters Avenue. President of St. Vincent De Paul, Bob Hartzheim, says it will be a 20,000 square foot building. The director of Homeless Services with the Fond du Lac Solutions Center Amy Loof says the city’s homeless problem is probably greater than most people realize. Loof says the pandemic has exposed the fact that it’s not just adults who are homeless, but children as well.
