The Fond du Lac County Clerk says data from Wisconsin election officials that identified only 27 potential cases of voter fraud out of more than three million ballots cast in the November president election shows that the state’s election system is secure. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says people need to educate themselves on how the voting system works and the safeguards that are in place. Freiberg says out of the just over two dozen cases of potential fraud, most, if not all, were not willful attempts to cheat the system. The commission released a report Monday that found clerks referred 11 people to prosecutors for voting twice, either by voting in two different cities or voting both in-person and by absentee ballot, or for voting illegally as a felon.
