The American Red Cross of Wisconsin says heading into the summer there is a severe blood shortage as hospital demand increases. Red Cross spokesman Justin Kern says while there is still a steady stream of people donating blood, the requests from hospitals for blood has increased dramatically. Kern says donors of all blood types, especially type O and those giving platelets are urged to give as soon as possible.
