6-28-21 waupun school superintendent says proposed state spending plan doesn’t go far enough for education

The Waupun School superintendent says he’s frustrated that a proposed K-12 spending plan in the state budget does not include enough state aid for education.   The GOP-controlled budget committee gave schools $128 million more over the next two years, cut property taxes levied by schools to backfill the lost revenue with state aid,  to secure $2.6 billion in federal coronavirus relief money.   Waupun superintendent Steve Hill  says that translates to no more additional state aid for Waupun.  Hill says he’s unsure what will happen when the federal money expires.  Hill says it feels like some lawmakers are going for a short term political win.
