7-21-21 covid-19-fourth wave

With every passing day, the United States appears more likely to be on the cusp of a fourth wave of COVID-19 infections, but the question is how bad would it get?   In the past two weeks the number of average daily new daily cases has more than doubled, a surge that harbors reminders of the fronts of the second and third waves last summer and fall.    Daily numbers remain low in Fond du Lac County and in Wisconsin and Fond  du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it seems hard to believe that a fourth wave would resemble anything like last year.  Still Mueller says she worries what fall looks like, not just with the COVID numbers, but also with influenza.  “I’m an optimistic person but I worry about what fall looks like not just with COVID but also with influenza,”  Mueller told WFDL news.   With 42.7 percent of the population fully vaccinated, Fond du Lac County ranks 49th in Wisconsin, and has a 16 percent lower vaccination rate than the state.   By comparison neighboring Sheboygan County ranks 25th, with 48 percent of the population fully vaccinated.   Winnebago County ranks 28th with 47.5 percent fully vaccinated.
