7-29-21 fdl police budget preview

A major Police Department remodeling project is the highlight in a proposed  Fond du Lac Police Department budget for next year.  The Fond du Lac city council got it’s first look at the budget at their meeting Wednesday night.  Interim chief Aaron Goldstein says his department is requesting $2.4 million in capital improvement projects. including a $1.8 million renovation of the Police Department building.  The first phase includes remodeling locker rooms, the detective bureau, evidence property space and HVAC system.  Meanwhile, Goldstein says the Department continues to hire to fill vacancies and is planning to hire six new officers approved by voters in the spring referendum starting after the first of next year.
