7-30-21 pilot, passengers escape serious injury when plane crash-lands in fdl county field

A pilot received minor injuries and three passengers were not injured when a plane enroute to the EAA in Oshkosh crash landed in a field in Fond du Lac County.  The crash happened shortly after 12pm Thursday in a field near  Locust Road in the town of Ripon.  An initial investigation shows the 1933 Stinson single engine plane  experienced a mechanical issue with fuel and the pilot attempted to land the plane in a field.  […]

7-30-21 brandon, rural areas hit hard by storm

In addition to the city of Ripon this week’s severe thunderstorm also hit other rural areas of western Fond du Lac County.   Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says significant damage was reported in Brandon.  Waldschmidt says the storm flattened some corn fields as well.  Waldschmidt says a a horse barn was lifted on the ground and tossed against a garage near Ripon and other farm structures were also damaged.

7-30-21 state of emergency declared in ripon

A state of emergency has been declared in the city of Ripon after severe thunderstorms  packing hurricane force straight line winds roared through the community Wednesday night.   City administrator Adam Sontagg says the primary damage is downed trees and power lines, blocking streets and causing damage to roofs and siding of homes.  Sontagg warns residents to stay away from downed power lines as Alliant Energy works to restore power.

7-30-21 fdl man killed when car hits fallen tree in fdl county

A  Fond du Lac man  was killed when a car struck a tree that had fallen across a road during Wednesday night’s storms in Fond du Lac County.  The victim has been identified as 29 year old Quinn Boehning of Fond du Lac.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the crash happened early Thursday morning on County Highway N near Scattsneider Drive near Ripon.

7-29-21 storms knock down trees and power lines in ripon

Severe thunderstorms and radar indicated tornadoes swept through Wisconsin late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning,  knocking down trees and power lines.  Heavy rain also caused some flooding in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties.  Fond du Lac County Emergency Management director Bobbie Hicken says the city of Ripon was hardest hit in Fond du Lac County with 70-80 mile an hour winds reported.  Hicken says several trees are reported down in Ripon.  […]
