Fond du Lac County, WI — In light of the updated guidance released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Fond du Lac County Health Department is releasing the following statement:
There continues to be concern for COVID-19 transmission in the community, and in particular the Delta variant that is linked to an increase of COVID-19 cases. While rare, some vaccinated individuals can get the Delta variant. It is likely that a vaccinated individual will have mild, if any, symptoms compared to an unvaccinated individual. From January 1, 2021 through July 22, 2021, over 98% of COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin occurred among people who were not fully vaccinated.
Our goal is to reduce everyone’s risk and keep people from becoming severely ill and/or hospitalized, especially for those who are unvaccinated or are immunocompromised.
The best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community is by getting fully vaccinated. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they are able. The Health Department continues to provide COVID-19 vaccinations every Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 am and every Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Please call 920-929-3085 to schedule an appointment at the Health Department or find another vaccine provider at www.vaccines.gov.
Following best practice recommendations such as staying 6 feet apart from those not in your household while in public, washing your hands, and wearing a mask in indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status, in areas of substantial or high transmission can help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our area.
According to the CDC COVID-19 Data Tracker, Fond du Lac County is currently experiencing a substantial level of community transmission. “The best thing we can do to slow the spread of this virus is to get vaccinated,” said Kim Mueller, Fond du Lac County Health Officer.
