9-1-21 nfdl schools to continue with mask optional policy

Even with a recent surge in COVID-19 cases the North Fond du Lac School Board has decided to start the school year with a mask optional policy.   Dozens of parents spoke in opposition to a mandatory mask policy at a special meeting Tuesday night saying it would infringe on their freedom.    The board decided to continue to make masks optional, but strongly recommend that students and staff wear masks.  Superintendent Aaron Sadoff  said a letter signed by more than 20 doctors and a letter from the Public Health Officer strongly recommended school districts require masking to stop the spread of the virus.  Sadoff says a couple of teachers and students tested positive for COVID-19 just days before the start of the school year and masking would be a way to keep kids and staff in class five days a week.
