The Fond du Lac School Board has given approval to a preliminary budget. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig says the balanced budget includes approximately $2.5 million more in state aid. The preliminary budget projects an 8.7 percent drop in the school district tax levy. Dr. Fleig says the challenge will come in future years because of declining enrollment. The district is projecting 6,750 students, about the same as last year, but down from 7,000 students in the 2018-19 school year. Dr. Fleig says if enrollment continues to decline the district may be forced to make budget cuts.
