The Fond du Lac County Corporation Counsel is reviewing an email request signed by the leader of a Republican-ordered investigation into the 2020 Presidential election in Wisconsin. The Corporation Counsel will decide how or whether the county will respond to the request by former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman to retain all records related to the election and notify him if any had been destroyed. Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says she thought the request by email was not done in a professional manner. Freiberg says some of the correspondence from the Gableman email actually went to her junk email. Freiberg says if Republicans had concerns about the 2020 presidential election vote totals, why no questions about the four elections that have occurred since. “We used these machines in the first two elections in 2021 and nobody has questioned any results from our spring elections,” Freiberg told WFDL news. “Nobody questioned anything last August. Nobody questioned anything last April where these names were also on these ballots.” Freiberg says she’s not sure if the Republican probe will be done fairly or accurately or what will be accomplished.
