Lakeside Park improvements were the focus of a special Fond du Lac city council meeting last week. The meeting was held to discuss the proposed budget and the council agreed to several amendments regarding Lakeside Park. In addition to $200,000 for repairs to the park Lighthouse, the council voiced support of moving up a $200,000 project to repair the pavement on the Lighthouse Peninsula. City manager Joe Moore says the city has also been approved for a UW Madison Capstone study for the park. A UW Madison landscape-architect graduate student will study the Lighthouse Peninsula and Frazier Point areas and report his findings sometime next spring. The council also supported earmarking $200,000 for design work of a bridge connecting Lakeside Park West and East and a $50,000 study for a Fond du Lac Riverfront District.
