9-22-21 federal reserve aid

A retired Ripon College economist says a decision by the Federal Reserve to slow aid for the economy later this year is good news.  Fed chair Jerome Powell says the Federal Reserve will start dialing back its ultra-low interest rate policies this year as long as hiring continues to improve.  Economist Paul Schoofs says it signals the beginning of the end of the Fed’s extraordinary  response to the pandemic recession. Such a move could lead to higher borrowing costs for mortgages, credit cards and business loans.
