Funeral services are being held this week for a Fond du Lac police officer who died from COVID-19. Officer Joseph Kurer died last Wednesday at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee. He was 26 years old. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 8pm Tuesday and 9am to 10:30am Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday followed by law enforcement and military honors. Masks are required. A private burial service will be held following the service. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein posted on Facebook last week that Kurer died in the line of duty and that all evidence indicated he contracted the virus while on duty. He was not vaccinated.
