The Fond du Lac County Health Department will begin administering  COVID-19 booster shots to certain populations with increased risk of exposure to or transmission of the virus now that the state Department of Health Services has signed off on the recommendation.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says in addition to people 65 years and older and all long-term care residents, people ages 50-64 with certain underlying medical conditions are eligible for a Pfizer booster vaccine.  Mueller says DHS is also recommending the booster shots for people ages 18-49 with certain underlying medical conditions and people at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of their job or institutional setting.  Mueller says the Public Health Department will be offering the Pfizer booster vaccine at weekly clinics by appointment only.  Mueller says you can also contact your health care provider or Walgreens.
