10-11-21 fdl man charged with intentional fatal crash regains competency

A Fond du Lac judge has ruled that a Fond du Lac man accused of intentionally crashing his pickup truck into a motorcyclist has regained competency and can stand trial.  Based on the new competency evaluation Daniel Navarro is expected to enter a plea at a hearing October 21 in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.   Navarro is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide as a Hate Crime in the death of a 55 year old Fond du Lac man in July 2020 in the town of Taycheeda.  Navarro told officers at the scene of the crash that he intentionally struck the motorcyclist because he believed he was white. Navarro had been undergoing treatment for schizophrenia.
