Fond du Lac’s new assistant police chief says he is excited about his new role. The Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission last week appointed Jason Laridaen to the post. Laridean replaces Aaron Goldstein who was earlier appointed police chief. “it’s quite the opportunity, I’m looking forward to serving in a different capacity at the Police Department,” Laridaen told WFDL news. Laridaen admits being an assistant chief wasn’t on his radar when he started as an officer in 1995. “I always wanted to look at detective or supervisory route, Laridaen said. “I think a lot of young officers come in with their eyes wide open not knowing what they want to do other than just being a police officer, and I truly enjoyed being a police officer.” Laridaen has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UW- Platteville and is a graduate of several advanced law enforcement and leadership programs.
