The Fond du Lac County Health Department is preparing to step up testing in the event a vaccine mandate on larger businesses goes into effect. The Biden administration’s requirement that those workers be vaccinated by January 4, or face mask requirements and weekly tests has been temporarily halted by a federal appeals court. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says she wants to make sure that if the mandate goes into effect, and the need for testing increases, testing would be available locally. Several business groups have expressed concern the mandate will burden businesses during the busy holiday season as they rush to meet the implementation deadline. If successful the Biden administration believes it would go a long way toward ending a pandemic that has killed more than 750,000 Americans.
