Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a Brownsville apartment. At approximately 7:30am Sunday morning Brownsville firefighters responded to a fire at a four unit apartment building on Main Street. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in the second story apartment bedroom, but not before the fire caused major fire and smoke damage. Eight people in the apartment complex were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The cause of the fire was determined to be a seven year old child playing with and lighting fireworks while alone in the bedroom.
