The Fond du Lac County District Attorney says he wasn’t surprised that Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all of the charges he faced, and says he wouldn’t have charged the Illinois teenager if he had been the prosecutor in the case. Eric Toney, who is a Republican candidate for state attorney general says given the set of facts in the case he would not have filed homicide charges against Rittenhouse. Instead Toney says based on the facts that he heard during the trial, he would have called for an inquest to gather facts. Toney says in his opinion the entire case hinged on how the jury felt about the first shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum and whether they believed Rittenhouse acted in self-defense.
