The former Fond du Lac Public Works director admits he was surprised when the Plymouth City Council voted to fire him earlier this month. The council voted in closed session to terminate their employment contract with Jordan Skiff less than ten months on the job. Skiff says he had a couple conversations last summer and early this fall with the mayor about the budget and how he was getting along with staff. In an exclusive interview with WFDL news Skiff says the concerns about his relationship with city staff were very general and vague about communication style. In the end he says the mayor told him they had lost confidence in his leadership. Skiff says he wanted the meeting to be held in open session to let the public know he was not being terminated for any impropriety on the job. Skiff lives in the Fond du Lac area and as he looks for his next job says he hopes he doesn’t have to move. Skiff was hired as the Fond du Lac Public Works director oin 2011, serving in that role until he stepped down last December after accepting the Plymouth job.
