On Thursday December 30th, 2021 at approximately 2:39am a Deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office had located a vehicle at the Kwik Trip off E Johnson St in the City of Fond du Lac which was reported stolen out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. The vehicle went mobile at which time the Deputy followed until there was assistance from the City of Fond du Lac Police Department to attempt a High Risk traffic stop. The High Risk traffic stop was attempted at Johnson St and Park Ave in the City of Fond du Lac. The operator failed to stop for the Deputy’s emergency lights and audible siren, taking off at a high rate of speed causing a pursuit to ensue.
The pursuit traveled southbound on Park Ave to Pioneer Rd where the vehicle continued eastbound on Pioneer Rd to Fond du Lac Ave. The vehicle continued southbound on Fond du Lac Ave which turns into Hwy 45. Assistance was requested from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Kewaskum Police Department to respond into Fond du Lac County and assist with the deployment of a tire deflation device. Ultimately, the vehicle continued south on Hwy 45 until turning westbound onto Haven Dr. A Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol had a tire deflation device deployed at Haven Dr. and CTH V ahead of the pursuit. The tire deflation device was successful and the suspect vehicle went southbound on CTH V from Haven Dr. for a short distance. Ultimately, the operator identified as a 24 year old male from the Green Bay area and only occupant stopped the vehicle on CTH V south of Haven Dr. in the Township of Auburn. A high risk traffic stop was conducted and the operator was taken into custody without incident.
The operator is currently in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail and being charged with Eluding, Operate vehicle without owner’s consent along with a traffic citation for operate after suspension of license.
The only property damage to report was 3 tires that were deflated on the suspect vehicle from the successful tire deflation device deployment. Total distance of the pursuit covered approximately 23 miles. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by all mentioned agencies.
