12-24-21 fdl county sheriff’s office steps up patrol during holidays

The Fond du Lac  County Sheriff's Office is urgining motorists to slow down and drive safely over the Christmas-New Year's Holiday period.  Sheriff's captain Bill Tadych says the Sheriff's Office is stepping up patrol and also participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign through the New Year's Holiday.   Tadych says wear your seatbelt, don't drink and drive and be aware of any changing weather conditions.

12-24-21 i-94 crashes on black ice

OSSEO, Wis. (AP) — Authorities in western Wisconsin are trying to sort out multiple crashes along Interstate 94. The State Patrol said in a statement that freezing rain early Thursday left the interstate between Menomonie and Black River Falls icy. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has been sworn in as U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg. Barrett took the oath on Thursday at the federal courthouse in Milwaukee. Barrett, a Democrat, resigned at 5 p.m. Wednesday after 17 years as mayor of Wisconsin’s largest city. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Foxconn Technology Group has qualified for nearly $30 million in Wisconsin tax credits. That marks the first time the Taiwan-based electronics giant has secured state aid since breaking ground on its Wisconsin facility in 2018. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to have the Wisconsin Elections Commission reinstate voter registrations for nearly 32,000 people who were deactivated this summer. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin lawmakers on Tuesday approved 2% pay raises for all state employees except the Milwaukee County district attorney. The local unemployment rate continues to fall.  The November unemployment rate stands at 1.5 percent in both Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties.  The city of Fond  du Lac's jobless rate dropped six-tenths of a percent to 1.7 percent last month.   Preliminary data shows the unemployment rate decreased in all of Wisconsin's 72 counties,  12 metro areas, and 34 largest cities.   Sixty one counties, 25 of the state's largest cities and 11 metro areas experienced record […]

12-23-21 two people injured in vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in fdl

Two people were injured following a three vehicle crash in Fond du Lac.  Shortly before 5pm Wednesday rescue personnel were called to North Main Street at Arndt Street for a report of a vehicle striking a parked  vehicle.   Upon arrival, Officers discovered a pedestrian was struck and sustained a severe leg injury.  The driver of the striking vehicle was found unconscious.
