Fond du Lac residents Tom and Christine Otte are being recognized as Hometown Heroes by the state Assembly. State representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says nominated the Ottes for their work founding the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter in Fond du Lac. The volunteer group provides beds to children in need. An award ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon during the Assembly floor session. Sleep in Heavenly Peace was established in 2012 and has grown to nearly 300 chapters. There are 17 chapters in Wisconsin. The group provides beds, sheets, pillow cases and blankets to children at no cost to the families.
